Decorating Day is a uniquely Old West Virginia Mountain Tradition


Remembrance Day. Have you heard of it. Of course you have. But here’s what you might not realize: For many in West Virginia, Memorial Day also goes by another name. We call it Decoration Day, and it’s a chance for us to remember and honor not only the soldiers who died, but all the loved ones – family, friends, sometimes even strangers – who are no more. with us in beautifying and decorating their graves.
