Decoration ideas zero waste | Vet Candy

How we treat the environment has become a matter of great concern to most of the world. The decoration itself may seem futile when you consider all those faux fall leaf garlands, wreaths and plastic covers that will need to be put away or thrown away at the end of the season.

Fortunately, there is an abundance of wonderful DIY fall options that will allow you to enjoy the beauty of the season without ravaging the planet at the same time. Here are some wonderful fall decorating ideas that are easy and beautiful too.

Fodder for your decoration

Fall leaves are a beautiful reminder of the season. Pick up a long stick and use string to thread them for a beautiful piece of wall art. Pine cones, nuts, berries and evergreen branches can also be beautiful ornaments. These are all beautiful, free, and can be composted at the end of the season.

Decorate with edible squash

Squashes are beautiful and come in a variety of shapes and colors. They also remind us of autumn. Instead of using fake replicas, consider decorating with shelf-stable edible squash, then eating them as needed and replacing the reserve. Seasonal pumpkin or butternut squash soups are also a great reminder of the season and just as festive as the gourds themselves.

Decorate with food

Apples, grapes, nuts, and other seasonal produce can also make lovely arrangements and can be replenished over time. When the season is over, just eat what’s left, or compost if some have become soft. By eating your decoration or by composting it, you will have lived a rich and festive season without any waste.

Celebrating the holidays doesn’t necessarily mean choosing between a beautiful house or a beautiful planet. You can have both with just a little forethought.
